Iscential was founded in 1993 as a Nationwide Insurance agency. Founder and CEO, Warren Barhorst has developed the firm from a scratch agency with no clients and zero policies to more than 60,000 lines in force; from two associates to over 100; and from one location in Jersey Village, Texas to more than 20 across the country. Iscential is the largest writer of Nationwide property and casualty insurance in the country, and for over 10 years, has received Nationwide’s highest honor as a member of the President’s Conference All-Star Team.


Iscential is nationally recognized with the highest accolades from multiple companies and industry, including the honor of being listed as one of the “Best Places to Work” by Texas Monthly magazine and the Houston Business Journal as well as one of the “Best and Brightest Companies to Work For” by the National Association for Business Resources. Iscential is involved in supporting the community through non-profits and education. Warren volunteers his time to his alma mater, Texas A&M University, and serves as a Past President and current Vice Chairman of Jackie Sherrill’s 12th Man Kickoff Team Foundation, a Member of the 12th Man Foundation Council of Athletic Ambassadors, a member of the Texas A&M Medical School’s Rapport Society, as well as a member of the University’s Industrial Distribution Degree Industry Advisory Board. He also serves as a Mentor for the University of Houston’s Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship. Warren’s passion for financial literacy frequently has him presenting from coast to coast, from fourth-grade classrooms to executive boardrooms. He is driven to educate others about how to make wise choices that will positively impact their personal and business financial future.
